Volunteer Waiver & Training Guidelines

Volunteer Waiver

I wish to volunteer at Rabbit Recycling. In consideration for being allowed to volunteer, I agree to the following below:


  1. Assumption of Risk. I understand that volunteering may involve physical labor, handling of materials, and use of tools or equipment. These activities carry risks of injury, illness, or property damage. I assume all such risks.

  2. Release of Liability. I release Rabbit Recycling, its owners, employees, and agents from any liability for injury, illness, death, or property damage arising from my volunteering, except for gross negligence or willful misconduct.

  3. Medical Authorization. In an emergency, I authorize Rabbit Recycling to seek medical treatment for me. I will be responsible for any medical costs.

  4. Photo/Video Release. I understand that photos, videos, or audio may be taken during volunteering. I grant Rabbit Recycling permission to use my likeness in any media for promotional, educational, or public purposes without payment or further consent.

  5. Compliance. I agree to follow all safety rules and staff instructions.



Volunteer Training Guidelines

The tasks are not labor intensive!


All volunteers must complete this training below before starting. Keep a copy; sign the last page of this document and submit.


1. Arrival & Sign-In

  • Arrive 5-10 minutes early and call when you are on your way.

  • Sign the Volunteer Waiver (one-time for adults) and the daily Sign-In Sheet.

  • Wear closed-toe shoes


2. Facility Tour (5 minutes)

  • Sorting Area: Plastics, Foams, Hard-to-recycle Materials.

  • Baling Area: Heavy machinery – STAY OUT unless escorted.

  • Exit Routes: Two marked doors; know the nearest one.

  • First-Aid Kit: Located by break room.


3. Safety Rules (MUST FOLLOW)

  • No running, horseplay, or unauthorized areas.

  • Lift with knees, not back. Ask for help with heavy items.

  • Gloves ON (rubber or specialized) when handling materials. Ask staff for assistance if you encounter broken glass or sharp items. 

  • Report spills, leaks, or injuries to staff IMMEDIATELY.


4. Sorting Basics (Instructions and tasks for the session)

  • Volunteer tasks begin. Based on priorities and projects


5. Photo/Video Policy

  • Photos or videos may be taken. You signed permission on the waiver. Smile or step aside if you prefer not to appear.


6. End of Shift

  • dispose/return gloves/tools.

  • Wash hands.

  • Sign out on the daily sheet.
